Meg Murray, an Annapolis-based singer-songwriter, whose soulful voice and captivating performances continue to resonate with audiences throughout the Annapolis-Baltimore-Washington DC music scenes. Meg has collaborated with Grammy-winning producers Timbaland, John Alagia, and Bill Plummer.
Meg began performing with fellow Washington College grad Tom Arthur in the acoustic duo Yellow House, before forming the award-winning trio August West with Steve Lowe and Kevin Clark. The group continues to perform today and has released two albums, Bishop Street and Jones Station Sessions.
Throughout her career, Meg has fronted bands like the alt-rock group Hussy and the R&B/funk band Non-Fiction, sharing stages with artists such as America, Edwin McCain, and Julian Lennon. She also toured with Blue Miracle and lent her voice to Jeff Muller’s jazz album Tipton, based on the life of Billy Tipton. In addition to her band work, Meg has released six solo albums on her label, Girl Island Productions, and has performed in venues along the East Coast from NYC to Birmingham, AL.
Meg has shared the stage with her friend and mentor, the late Eva Cassidy, and co-founded The Songbird Festival to celebrate women in music in Cassidy’s honor. She is a founding member of AMFM, Inc. (Annapolis Musicians Funding Musicians), where she served as Secretary for over a decade. Today, she regularly performs with friends like Angie Miller, Bryan Ewald and Steve Cyphers in Cyphers Band, and is part of Steely Dan Tribute Band Technicolor Motor Home.
