While performing at The Patio at Reynolds Tavern in Annapolis MD with fellow Washington College grad Tom Arthur, Meg met songwriter Steve Lowe. Meg and Steve began to write original material and formed the Americana band August West, with Kevin Clark on percussion.
You can find out more about August West at www.augustwestmusicmd.com
Hussy was formed in the fall of 1994 with Meg on vocals and acoustic guitar, Dana Biagini on bass and vocals, Lawrence Canning on electric guitar, and Noel White on drums. The band recorded a 6 song self-titled cassette at Hound Sound in Baltimore, and worked with producers John Alagia and Doug Derryberry for a second never released EP. Before the band ended in 1995, they had played the Cafe A GoGo in NYC, The Bar Chord in NJ, opened for Edwin McCain in NC, and Blue Miracle at The Paragon in College Park and The Avalon in Easton MD.
Meg teamed next with guitarist Jeff Muller to form the acoustic duo Meg & Jeff. They performed jazz and standards around the DC-Baltimore-Annapolis area in venues such as The King of France Tavern, Armadillos, and Weems Creek Tavern. Jeff wrote the music for a play about the life of musician Billy Tipton for The Flying Pig Theatre in Pittsburgh called "Tipton" and he produced a companion CD to the play with Meg singing lead vocals. Meg & Jeff also performed with the late Eva Cassidy when she moved to Annapolis in the mid 1990’s, even convincing Eva to sing backup on their promotional demo cassette titled “It Ain't Easy...” Meg and Eva both sang on Jeff's New Orleans homage CD "Jes Grew."
In 1996, Meg lead the Mid-Atlantic based R&B/funk band Non-Fiction featuring guitarist Bryan Ewald, Anthony Setola on bass, drummer John Thomakos, and percussionist Mark St. Pierre. Their first CD, Majesty Twelve, was released on May 4, 1997. Non-Fiction played Sundays at The Eastport Clipper for five years, and opened for America, Jonatha Brook, The Tubes, and Todd Rundgren. They also performed at two Volvo Cup Ocean Sailing Race stops in Annapolis, Eastport A Rockin', and The Maryland Seafood Festival. The band sold out the new Rams Head On Stage when it opened, and that show was recorded for their second CD release, "Save It Up," which is available at https://nonfiction.bandcamp.com
Meg continues to perform regularly with Non-Fiction bandmate guitarist and producer Bryan Ewald as the acoustic duo Meg & Bryan. They have played thousands of gigs together since 1996, with 10 year plus residencies at Armadillos, Acme Bar & Grill, and Heroes Pub in Annapolis. Occasionally Meg & Bryan are joined by his talented sons, multi-instrumentalists and producers Aidan Ewald and Julian Ewald as well as bass phenom Graham Furniss, performing as a 4 piece band.
Meg has been performing regularly with good friend singer/songwriter Angie Miller since 1997. Meg & Angie regularly appeared at Rams Head On Stage, Rams Head Down Bar & Patio, 49 West in Annapolis, and Jammin Java in VA. Meg & Angie produced a string of shows at The Bowery Poetry Club in NYC, bringing busloads of Annapolis Musicians and fans up to New York to benefit The Emerald Society of NYC and the FDNY after the attacks of 9/11. Meg & Angie currently have a monthly residency at Bridges in Grasonville MD, perform their original songs in listening rooms throughout the Mid- Atlantic region, and they will be going on tour in Europe during Summer 2025.
Meg is a founding member of Songbird Collective and Songbird Festival in Annapolis MD, whose goal is to raise the visibility of it's connected artists through podcasts, workshops and retreats, monthly Songbird Showcases at 49 West Annapolis MD, and producing performances in listening rooms along the eastern seaboard and beyond.
Meg has sung back up for Technicolor Motor Home since 2012. A mix of elegance and function, this 10 piece band fronted by Glenn Workman and featuring the best musicians in the area, pays homage to the recent touring versions of Steely Dan. Their show includes material from every Steely Dan album as well as some gems from Becker and Fagen solo projects.
Meg sings back up in Cyphers Band, the new solo project of friend Steve Cyphers, the dynamic former front man for national jam band Blue Miracle. This band of merrymakers knows how to put on a show, handle a groove, includes Meg's former bandmates Jeff Muller and Dracula Jackson, and you can catch them performing around the DC-Baltimore-Annapolis area.
